Too many folks chase the ‘fairy tale’ all their life and let silly books, movies, and TV shows convince them that “perfect” is out there. I don’t think I’m being a cynic to assert that “perfect” doesn’t exist. I think a closer examination of the “perfect” situation or life would reveal people who work at it, sacrifice and learn to adjust to life’s normal pitfalls and disappointments without allowing it to make them dissatisfied with what they do have.
The original concept was to end a bit more darkly with a tale of love tried and lost where life’s realities didn’t live up to the fantasy. But a positive or more hopeful outlook prevailed as the story turned to the more admirable side of human nature in many – the strength and ability to get past difficulties and hang in there for the reward that comes from giving up some of the things we thought we needed in order to obtain something better we eventually recognize when we come to wisdom.
